Doing a political cartoon live on TV

The last issue of the annual political satire magazine "Blæksprutten" (The Squid) was published last month. Since 1888 has this annual publication been part of Christmas in Denmark. Families would gathered around the magazine to see how the political cartoonists and writers depicted the year in words and images. The publishing house Gyldendal who published The Squid (Blæksprutten) from 1907 till now, has decided to close it down for good 'cause it doesn't seel as much as it used to. Its a pity 'cause all the political satire on TV or the internet is forgotten so soon after, where a printed publicated has a lasting value to it, and looking back through 125 years of history filtered by satirical ink lines ... it gives you a pretty good picture of the topics that very important to people at a certain time over the last 125 years.

Me and Stand-Up comedian and writer Mette Frobenius were interviewed at TV2 News Kulturen the 19. of November (the day before the book came out). Mette did most og the talking and I speed-drew a cartoon about a right wing politician who wants to interfere with the national tv stations right to shut down one of their ochestras and move the money somewhere else in their organisation = spend it on web content etc.
I did the drawing in less than 4 min.

For the final version of The Squid (Blæksprutten) I did four small line drawings about the topics: Russian submarine spotted close to Sweden ... again + The leader of the opposition, that can't be held down ... he always gets up when ever he falls + extreme flooding in the northern part of the country + Kids playing in Ebola-proof suits = we are overreacting

All ideas were done in collaboration with Mette Frobenius ... who also wrote the text

Commenting on the war in Syria - it's OK to shoot and blow people up, but when gas is used we draw the line for bloodshed.

fish is healthy - but you should hold back with the oily fish full of heavy metals and radioactive = stay away from glowing sushi!

The difficult choice: Kvickly supermarket has decided to stop selling battery eggs = consumers no longer have a choice of eggs from free-range chickens (the expensive eggs) and the cheap battery eggs - 'cause animal welfare should be the focus considers Kvickly.
If only the textile workers in Bangladesh had the same attention as the chicks .. sigh

Mass murderer crusader was declared not insane

The Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik has been sentenced custody of min. 10 years and max. 21 years in prison, which means that he has been declared sane and not insane.

Anders Breivik has previously said that he would appeal the verdict if he was declared insane and was given a treatment sentence. So mass murderer can be happy judgment states that he was aware of what he did on 22 July 2011.

When a self-appointed crusader with 77 deaths on his conscience can be declared normal, it must open the possibility of his recovery of a number of other killings lustful psychopaths

Thanks to Gorm Vølver, ATS, Politiken for the idea - the cartoon is printed in this years "Blæksprutten"

Finance Minister Bjarne Corydon (the financial Godfather of the government) describes it as a financially responsible agreement, but The Red-Green Alliance is not satisfied with the social aspects of the agreement..... they tried to put presure on him during the negotiations, but didn't succeed...

Cut down on spending or financing a kick start?

Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande are fighting for the Euro so the "Greek disease" doesn't not spread to the rest of the euro zone.
The finance ministers of the euro zone has agreed on a stimulus package to help Greece back on its feet, but they fear that the country would not implement the promised reforms that were a prerequisite for the massive help ..... and then there is still a very large proportion of Greeks not paying taxes in the corruption-ridden country.

Dating the Panda

The Greenland government has entered into final negotiations with China's largest state bank on the financing of a major mining project, which will give the Chinese access to Greenland's coveted natural resources
China is the only one that has proved genuinely interested in making the necessary investment = financing it .....but the Military Intelligence Service warns that the great interest among other countries in Greenland resources = major powers like the U.S., EU, Russia besides China, puts great security interests in play.
